Smallholder farmers’ access to finance in low- and middle-income countries

The FCDO invites proposals to conduct a review of existing research on smallholder farmers’ access to finance in Low- and Middle-Income countries (LMICs).

The purpose of this Evidence Fund is to review existing research on smallholder farmers’ access to finance in low- and middle-income countries, with the goal of supporting their transition to sustainable agricultural practices.

The Rapid Evidence Assessment (REA) aims to:

  • map the current financial landscape
  • assess the impact of finance on sustainable practices
  • identify gaps in the literature – setting the stage for future research, policy, and development programmes

Eligibility: Eligible parties include non-governmental organisations (NGOs), UK-based non-profit organisations, companies, educational institutions, individuals, and humanitarian relief organisations.

Funding information: Funding is valued at £10,001 to £100,000
